I Like Dada!

Katelyn's new favorite word is Dada. Since yesterday, she has been talking up a storm about Dada. It just amazes me how much they can learn in just a few months. They go from doing nothing but starring to sitting, crawling, babbling, and walking all in the first year.... Crazy!

Borders and Puppets

Katelyn is finally feeling well enough that we feel comfortable taking her out of the house. We decided to get out this weekend. One of the places we went was Borders. I'm not sure how smart that was considering it was the last shopping weekend before Christmas. We didn't even need to fight the crowds because we had our shopping done. Nonetheless, we needed to get out. Other than trying to park, it wasn't too bad. Anyway, while at Borders, we ran across these puppets. Katelyn LOVED them especially the monkey. We didn't take it home though because it was sooo expensive and I can't let her play with it because it is all furry and she'll eat it, but I keep thinking about it. Santa just might have to suck it up and make another trip to Borders LOL. Watch the video. Could you deny this child a monkey puppet?

Our Tree

I'm late at posting this, but I'm at the doctor's office and have nothing better to do :) We got our tree a couple of weeks ago. It's our first real tree in this house. The only other real tree we had was in the mobile home we were in briefly.

Here they are cutting the bottom off.

And decorated...

Back to Hull's

This weekend, we went back to Hull portraits for Katelyn's 6 month pictures. In case you are wondering, this was before we knew she had RSV, it was later that afternoon when she started coughing up stuff that we decided to take her back to the doctor. She didn't seem that sick. She had a great time at her photo shoot. We invited her Nana and Pawpaw to the shoot too. They had a lot of fun trying to get her to smile for the camera. Here are some behind the scenes photos.

Getting ready for a Christmas shot.

Stupid Weather

These up and down temps have taken its toll on Katelyn and me. I've some kind of cold or something. Poor Katelyn has RSV :( It's a respiratory virus. She can go back to day care Wednesday, but the symptoms will stick around for 6 to 8 weeks. She has to do breathing treatments which she is taking like a champ. She's actually been sick for like a month but it just recently turned to RSV. We had taken her to the doctor two times before, but at that point, it was just a cold. It is hard seeing her like that. She coughs so hard and for so long that she loses her breath. It's very scary. We must have caught it early though. We can already tell a big difference after the breathing treatments. I just hope she gets better before 6 weeks.

Torticollis Update

Katelyn had a check up with her physical therapist. She is doing good and making progress. Her head tilt was 10 degrees off center, and now she's only 5. Her therapist said she might even graduate at her next visit.

Thanksgiving 2010

It's been forever since I posted. Sorry about that. I've been busy. Now I have a lot to update you on.

We had a great thanksgiving and a great visit with family and friends. Thanksgiving was at our house this year. Steve, Monica, and the boys came and spent a few days. Mom and Dad stayed a while too.

Mom and Dad discovered that katelyn LOVES to watch the dogs play fetch.

Caleb loved to help out with Katelyn. It was so sweet. He feed her and even read her a bedtime story.

We also celebrated Christmas with Steve, Monica and the boys. Katelyn got lots of cute clothes and a really cool talking tea set that she LOVES. We have some video. My camera creates the video in some format my computer can't read. One day we will get them converted and share them with you.

Carrots, Attempt #2

Well tonight was our second night with carrots, and I added more liquid. I think this was the first night she actually enjoyed eating from a spoon. She ate the whole serving I prepared for her! I was so proud.

Rolling!!

Katelyn went to physical therapy last week. The therapist asked me to put her on the mat on her back. When I did, she was acting like she wanted to roll over. The therapist, just making conversation with Katelyn, was saying, "what are you doing? You can't roll over yet. You can't roll over." About a minute later, what did she do? She rolled over. It's like she just had to prove the therapist wrong. This picture was taken right after she rolled on to her belly.

Carrots

I made my first batch of baby food. I realized this isn't that exciting for some, but I was pretty hyped. I really love my ninja food processor!

Katelyn didn't seem as excited as I was. She immediately protested with the first bite. I'll try again tomorrow with more liquid.

4 Month Checkup

I meant to post this yesterday, but I feel asleep writing it last night lol. Anyway, here's your update...

Katelyn had her four month checkup today. Her growth is right on track. She is 24 inches long and weighs 11 pounds, 15.5 ounces. All of her developmental skills are right were they should be. She even scored high in her cuteness levels with the nurse. :) the nurse said, "We love all of our babies, and they are all so cute, but katelyn is just gorgeous!" Of course, I already knew this :p but I was still a proud mamma!

The doctor did notice that she has torticollis which is a slight tilt in her neck. I feel bad that I never noticed that she holds her head a little crooked. Since, it was caught early, she will be fine and have no long term effects. Thank you Dr. Flowers for catching that. She just has to do some exercises and a little physical therapy.

After her shots, she felt pretty pitiful for the rest of the day. I felt so bad for her. It's so upsetting to see her feel bad. It's even worse for some reason now that she actually has tears when she cries. I just want to join her :( She also had a little bit of fever, so that didn't help things. After some tylenol and lots of snuggles, she seemed to be doing better.

Cereal

Katelyn was having problems adjusting to the taste of her new formula. The doctor said that I could add some cereal to her bottles to mask the taste and also offer it in a bowl twice a day. After giving it a try, I don't think she's ready for a spoon. She didn't know what to do and got pretty frustrated and started to get upset. I did get some pictures before she got upset.

Here she is wait to give it a try.

I don't understand...

This isn't what I had in mind. I need a bottle!

Rolling Over

Saturday, October 2nd, after the garage sale, we decided to take a nap. When I tried to put Katelyn down for a nap, she was wide awake and in such a good mood. I decided to skip my much needed nap and play with Katelyn. I put her down on the floor for tummy time. She started immediately to try and roll over. She was getting really close to actually doing it. I didn't want Billy to miss out, so I woke him up to film it. Sure enough, we caught her rolling over for the first time ever on video. Now you can see it too :)

Phantom Bug

After Katelyn had 3 separate episodes of what we though was a stomach bug, the doctor decides that it is probably not a bug at all. She just needs to change her formula again. Now she is on Nutramigen (not sure if I spelled that right and I'm too lazy to go look at the can). Most of the time she seems to be feeling a million times better and is all smiley happy. Then, at other times she screams bloody murder! It seems to happen once per bottle. She also doesn't seem too excited about drinking it. In fact, sometimes she won't drink it at all. I don't know if it keeps her fuller longer or if it's just nasty or what. So, I'm not too sure about the new formula. We'll see how this weekend goes.

Best Week Ever!

and by that, I mean not so much. :( It started last weekend when Katelyn got a stomach bug. Thank goodness it didn't come with the vomiting though. Monday I had to stay home with her, which wasn't bad we just hung out all day, watched TV and changed LOTS of diapers.

Tuesday, she went back to day care. While she was there, she had an accident. Her sitter slipped in some juice that someone spilt on the floor and they both went into the swing. Thank goodness she instinctively covered my child's face with her hand, so it took most of the blow, but she did end up with a few bruises to the head and face.

Miss Kitty made it all better though...

By Wednesday and Thursday, we thought our week had taken a turn for the better. Katelyn's tummy was all better and her bruises are healing nicely.

Then Friday morning we wake up and Billy's eye is swollen and red. He goes to the doctor, and as suspected, he had pink eye. He was very sad about not being able to hold or play with Katelyn.

Friday night Katelyn's stomach virus came back with a vengeance. This time it brought the vomiting. Poor little girl. I feel so bad for her. By this time, I was sad Billy could hold her too lol. Hopefully, she will be well enough to go back to day care Monday. Sunday, Billy will be well enough to hold and take care of Katelyn. Hopefully, no one else will get the stomach virus or pink eye. That will be a miracle.

More Family Introductions

Labor Day weekend my parents and I went to take Katelyn to meet her Great-Grandfather "Kingpin", her Great-Aunt Lanelle, and my cousin Cindi and her husband Steve in Mariana, FL.

Kingpin is almost 93 and I am the last of his grandkids to have a child. This meeting meant a lot to me, and I'm sure it did to him too.

On the way there, she traveled pretty good. She slept most of the way. On the way back, however, we got stuck in traffic in Mobile, and she did not like sitting still for that long. She was kinda fussy the rest of the trip. Poor thing was just sick of being in a car.

Kingpin, Lanelle, and Katelyn...

Katelyn and Cindi...

While we were in Florida, Katelyn picked her head up higher than she ever had before during tummy time and I managed to get some pictures...

hanging out with Nanna....

Katelyn on the road...

We decided to stop in Pensacola to eat lunch on the way home.

And then we came to a complete stop outside of Mobile....

Lazy Saturdays with Daddy

Katelyn liked hanging out with Daddy on a lazy Saturday morning.

Ack, Daddy kisses....

Then they made it to the couch where they took a nap....

Nibbler didn't want to miss out on the photo op...

Then.... tummy time.

Double Digits!

Katelyn finally hit the double digit weeks. She turned 10 weeks old Tuesday. I guess I can stop counting weeks and start counting in months instead. I can't help it though. Every Tuesday, I think about her being another week older.

I can tell she is getting bigger now. A couple of weeks ago when I took her to the doctor, she was 9 lbs., 1 oz. She's probably 10 lb. by now. She is starting to hold her head up and away from me when I hold her in burping position on my shoulder. She is also very interested in looking at everything and everyone around her. She is smiling more now. I'm pretty sure I even heard half a laugh! It's amazing how silly we will act just to get her to smile. It's our favorite part of the day. She also really enjoys bath time and sometimes will kick or hit the water. I don't know if she means to, but she seems to enjoy it.

I will try to get some pictures of her smiling to add to this post. She is just the cutest baby ever and we love her so much. In fact, Billy asked me the other day if we could keep her.... I guess she can stay :)
